How to put together a wedding budget

Start with the total you want to spend on the wedding. Split it between the venue, food and drink, outfits, photography, music, decorations and any other services you really want. Keep your own buffer for changes; how big it should be depends on how many prices you already have confirmed.

For each item, keep the estimate, the agreed price and the amount actually paid apart. A deposit is part of the price, not an extra cost. Before you book, ask about travel, overtime, cleaning or equipment hire if the quote doesn't explicitly include them.

What else the planner can do

  • Guest list and RSVP

Guests grouped by family and household, with plus-ones, children and dietary needs. See at a glance who has replied and who hasn't yet.

  • Tasks and wedding checklist

What to sort out and by when, from booking the venue to the last dress fitting. Split the tasks between you so nothing important slips through.

  • Wedding day schedule

The day from getting ready to the evening party. All the times in one place for you, your witnesses and your vendors.

  • Seating plan

Build your tables straight from the guest list. When someone cancels, you see right away which seat is free.

  • Wedding vendor directory

Find photographers, catering, music and flowers in the directory by region and price. Save your picks to your plan and track agreed prices and payments in your budget.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do we tell an estimate from an agreed price?

For each item, enter an estimate and later the agreed price. Payments are tracked separately, so you see how much is planned, how much is paid and how much is still due.

Can we keep track of deposits and remaining balances?

Yes. Add deposits and payments with due dates to any item and mark them paid with one tap. You get a reminder a week and a day before each one is due.

What categories does the budget have?

Ready-made categories from venue and food through music, outfits and rings to announcements, transport and accommodation. You can add your own too.

How much does a wedding cost?

Is the planner really free?

Yes. You can use the guest list, tasks, budget, schedule, seating plan and vendors without paying. Only the wedding website costs money, if you want one.
